Ergonomic chair adjustment range is where most office seating falls short. A chair that can't be set to the right seat height for your desk will force a posture compromise that accumulates into back and neck problems. Look for seat height adjustable between 42–54cm to cover the full range of desk-to-floor distances, plus lumbar support that's both height and depth adjustable — a fixed lumbar pad positioned at the wrong height provides no benefit. For desks, work surface depth (front-to-back) matters as much as width: less than 60cm makes it difficult to position a monitor at the recommended 50–70cm viewing distance without the screen overhanging the edge. Height-adjustable desks should have a motor rated for at least 80kg and a height range of at least 65–130cm to accommodate seated and standing positions for most users.
